Elementary Program
We are proud to offer students with special needs adaptive programs to support them throughout their educational journeys. Services are provided on-site at the following locations.
Butler Elementary
Grades: K, 1, 2, and 3–4
For students experiencing moderate to severe developmental delays, our Butler Elementary program maximizes their literacy and math achievement in self-contained, grade-level classrooms. Using a curriculum based on Massachusetts learning standards, we provide modifications and accommodations to meet each student’s individual learning needs, as well as provide opportunities for inclusion within the greater school community.
Our dedicated staff members provide speech and language intervention, occupational and physical therapies, counseling, and consultation from a board-certified behavioral analyst.
Fox Hill Elementary
Grades: K–2 and 3–5
For students experiencing social/emotional and behavioral challenges but otherwise performing at or near grade-level standards, our program at Fox Hill provides therapeutic support and additional structure as children work to transition into the general education classroom. Using a curriculum based on Massachusetts learning standards, we provide modifications and accommodations based on student assessment, as well as opportunities for inclusion as the students demonstrate their readiness to meaningfully participate.
Our dedicated staff members and specialists provide speech and language intervention, occupational and physical therapies, counseling, and intervention from a board-certified behavioral analyst according to each student’s IEP. Our team works together closely to help students find the tools and strategies they need to help them learn to self-regulate, communicate effectively, and engage academically.
Francis Wyman Elementary
Grades: Preschool to age 7, and ages 7–11
Our LABBB programs at Francis Wyman Elementary serve students experiencing global developmental delays, neurological impairments, and/or significant medical challenges from ages three to 11. For these students, we emphasize the acquisition of communication skills, socialization, and motor development based on their developmental readiness. Using assistive technology and a modified academic curriculum that meets their needs, our program helps students develop the skills needed for daily living.
We staff this program with a full-time nurse who assists children requiring medical support. We also offer speech, language, occupational, and physical therapy as needed; as well as other therapies such as vision, orientation, and mobility.
Memorial Elementary
Grades: Preschool, K–2, and 3–5
Students with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental needs benefit from visual support and a highly structured academic environment at Memorial. Here, our primary focus is building communication and social skills as we improve academic achievement.
We structure our classrooms around the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), which can include Natural Environment Teaching (NET), task analyses, incidental teaching, and direct instruction. Every member of our staff is trained using ABA methodology to guide instruction both individually and in group settings. We incorporate sensory integration and visual supports in lessons and activities so that students can enjoy all aspects of elementary school life, including recess, assemblies, and field trips.
Therapeutic Support
Students who are experiencing social/emotional and behavioral challenges but are otherwise performing at or near grade-level standards benefit from our therapeutic support. The added structure and adult interaction help children transition into the general education classroom.
Here, our curriculum is modified from the general education classroom to meet individual student needs with opportunities for inclusion as the student is ready to meaningfully participate. Our team of teachers and specialists works together to help students discover strategies for self-regulation, effective communication, and academic success.
Wellington Elementary
Grade: Preschool to grade 2 and 3–5
Students with autism spectrum disorders presenting with challenging behaviors and those with moderate to profound delays can participate in our LABBB classrooms at Wellington. Here, the staff focuses on intensive, individualized instruction one-on-one with the student and/or in small groups. We use ABA principles and Verbal Behavior Therapy to deliver instruction that emphasizes growth and development in communication, skill activities for daily living, and modified academic achievement. Our program also provides speech, occupational, and physical therapies, as well as behavioral interventions.
