Preschool - PDD
The program serves students with autism spectrum disorders and pervasive
developmental disorders (PDD). The
focus of the full day program is to develop skills and independence in the areas
of communication, socialization, academic readiness, motor development and
activities of daily living. It also provides opportunities for inclusion in less
restrictive integrated classrooms. The program uses the principals of Applied
Behavioral Analysis (ABA) including discrete trial training as well as guilded
individual and group instruction.
The program serves students with global developmental delays. The focus of the
classroom is to develop skills and independence in the areas of communication,
socialization, cognition, motor development and activities of daily living. The
program uses a multi-sensory, total communication approach through individual,
small and large group instruction. It includes 9 hours of integration per week
with typically developing peers. The program is staffed with a nurse to assist
children who require medical support.
The program serves students with needs in the areas of language and social
development. The focus is on a curriculum that is theme based with vocabulary,
concepts, pre-academics and the arts. It also includes 9 hours of integration
with regular education peers. The program utilizes positive behavioral supports
that promote social skills and school readiness. The classroom follows the Early
Childhood Program Standards and Preschool Learning Experiences, developed by the
Early Childhood Advisory Council of the Massachusetts Department of Education.
